About these statistics

Skills Bootcamps were introduced to help individuals adjust to the changing economy through training, to enable transition from work in declining sectors and occupations into new career directions. They provide training in skills employers need and offer individuals a clear line of sight to a job.

The first Skills Bootcamps, Wave 1, launched in Autumn 2020 with six areas of England receiving a mix of grant funding and contracts to deliver Skills Bootcamps between September 2020 and March 2021:

  • Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) (D2N2)
  • Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA)
  • Devon County Council - Heart of the South West LEP (HotSW)
  • West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA)
  • Liverpool City Region (LCR)
  • West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA)

Wave 1 focused mainly on digital skills including cyber security, coding, software development and engineering, data analysis and digital marketing, with some technical skills training such as advanced brickwork, electrical installation and  broadband cabling.

The information in this publication is based on data returned by 48 Skills Bootcamp providers in the six areas listed above. It provides a summary of self-reported participants' outcomes following training.
