    Mainstream places reported by the local authorities that responded to the survey, as planned to be added to their school capacity. Includes only projects with firm plans for delivery which rely on ongoing building work.

Description

This document describes the transparency data included in the ‘School places sufficiency survey: Academic year 2019/20’ release’s underlying data files. 

The methodology accompanying this release should be referenced alongside this data. It provides information on the data sources, their coverage and quality as well as explaining methodology used in producing the data. 

Coverage

This release reports on school places sufficiency information in some state-funded primary and secondary schools in England in the academic year 2019/20, as of 1 May 2020. Data are as reported by local authorities in the voluntary 2020 September Sufficiency Survey. 

Information is included on: 

  • Transparency statistics on school capacity (number of school places) in 2019/20 for some schools with significant changes since 2018/19
  • Transparency statistics on the type of significant changes to school capacity between 2018/19 and 2019/20
  • Transparency statistics on some local authority planned places to 2021/22, including some planned places for 2022/23 and 2023/24
