  9. Figures for 2024/25 are provisional and are subject to change. Figures for 2023/24 and all previous years have been revised.
  10. Troops to Teachers are excluded from all figures prior to 2021/22.
  11. Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship: The postgraduate teaching apprenticeship (PGTA) was introduced in 2018/19.
  12. The 2023/24 revised and 2024/25 provisional data does not contain forecast trainees, this is due to a change in data collection methodology.
  13. Undergraduate: The majority of undergraduate provision is offered by higher education institutions.
  14. Schools direct salaried: includes salaried programmes i.e. Future Teaching Scholars Programme
  15. Proportions exclude trainees where information was not supplied, or where characteristics/information were reported as ‘unknown’.
  16. Data was extracted on 19 November 2024.
  17. Numbers for entrants are slightly decreased for 2024/25. This is because records for approximately 100 trainees from a provider were not submitted in time for inclusion in these statistics. We intend to update the figures to include these trainees in an amendment in early 2025.
