1. 2020/21 and 2021/22 data was extracted on 21st November 2021. 2019/20 data was extracted on 13th November 2020.
2. Design & Technology: includes food technology and engineering.
3. The 2021/22 provisional data does not contain forecast trainees, this is due to a change in data collection methodology.
4. Troops to Teachers are excluded from all figures.
5. Subject: The subject given here is ITT subject and may not be the same as the subject of the undergraduate degree held.
6. Other subject: here includes a different mix of subjects to the main targets by subject table, this is for consistency with historic teacher supply model groupings; Other includes drama from 2014/15 and citizenship from 2015/16.
7. Due to technical complications, one provider submitted high-level, aggregated data only, and these figures are included in this data extract. Final, more granular data will be updated in a subsequent publication.
8. Central postgraduate targets are taken from the teacher supply model https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/statistics-teacher-training#teacher-supply-model-and-itt-allocations. The teacher supply model target relates to postgraduates only. As of the 2021/22 training year (ITT2021), the Teacher Workforce Model (TWM) is used by DfE to set postgraduate ITT targets.
9. Figures for 2021/22 are provisional and are subject to change. Figures for previous years have been revised.
10. Primary: Prior to 2018/19, a small number of Primary trainees on subject specialist courses were reported against their subject specialism and were included in Total Secondary. From 2018/19, they are reported as Primary.
11. Business Studies: includes economics from 2019/20.
12. Modern Foreign Languages: here includes classics.
