Footnotes
- Warning: percentages have been rounded and therefore may not sum to 100%.
- Yet to complete: includes trainees who have not fully completed their course at the end of the academic year. They will go on to be awarded QTS or will complete without being awarded QTS in a later academic year.
- Percentage of those awarded QTS teaching in a state school: percentage of those awarded QTS who are employed in a state-funded school in England within 16 months of qualification. 2019/20 figures are provisional (uplifted), all prior years are revised. Due to rounding, the sum of constituent parts may differ from the reported total. See methodology for further details.
- Eligible trainees: includes trainees in bursary or scholarship eligible subjects with a degree class attracting a bursary. It does not include those which have additional A-level requirements. Excludes High Potential ITT (formerly Teach First), postgraduate teaching apprenticeship and School Direct (Salaried) trainees who are on programmes where bursaries are not awarded. This table does not take into account other routes to bursaries. In the bursaries guidance, Modern Foreign Languages is known as "Languages". Please see the Training Bursary manual for more information (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/funding-initial-teacher-training-itt/funding-initial-teacher-training-itt-academic-year-2019-to-2020).
- Not awarded QTS: includes trainees who left the course before the end (excluding those who left the course within 90 days of the start), trainees who failed the course and trainees who did not meet the standards.
- Teaching in a state school: registered as employed in a state-funded school in England within 16 months of qualification. 2019/20 figures are provisional (uplifted), up to and including 2018/19 are revised. See methodology for further details.
