Footnotes

  1. Percentage of those awarded QTS teaching in a state school: percentage of those awarded QTS who are employed in a state-funded school in England within 16 months of qualification. 2019/20 figures are provisional (uplifted), all prior years are revised. Due to rounding, the sum of constituent parts may differ from the reported total. See methodology for further details.
  2. 2013/14 excludes deferred employment based initial teacher training trainees.
  3. Although total postgraduate figures for 2012/13 include EBITT trainees, these are excluded in the route level breakdown. Hence the total will not match the sum of 2012/13 postgraduate lines.
  4. Training route: for the undergraduate route, this publication includes final year trainees only. High Potential ITT was formerly reported as Teach First. School-led route includes: HPITT, PGTA, SCITT, SDf, and SDs routes.
  5. High Potential ITT (formerly labelled Teach First) is included in postgraduate totals from 2015/16 onwards. High Potential ITT data collection was not mandatory until 2015/16, therefore, any trends may be a result of the difference in data collection.
  6. Teaching in a state school: registered as employed in a state-funded school in England within 16 months of qualification. 2019/20 figures are provisional (uplifted), up to and including 2018/19 are revised. See methodology for further details.
