- Total starts are the count of apprenticeships started at any point during the stated academic period. Learners starting more than one Apprenticeship will appear more than once.
- Age for starts is based on age at the start of the programme.
- Learner characteristics (such as sex, learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities and ethnicity) are based upon self-declaration by the learner.
- Percentages for learner characteristics include those learners where the characteristic is known. 'Not known/not provided' categories are excluded from the calculation.
- Ethnicity categories have been aligned with the ethnicities recorded in the 2011 UK Census.
- Ethnic minorities do not include white minorities.
- White comprises white British, Gypsy or Irish Traveller, Irish, and any other white background.
