Footnotes

  1. The number of vacancies could include some over-counting as it may be possible for a vacancy to have previously been advertised and some vacancies can be extended.
  2. Volumes are rounded to the nearest 10 and 'low' indicates a base value of fewer than 5. Where data shows 'x' this indicates data is unavailable, 'z' indicates data is not applicable, and 'c' indicates data is suppressed.
  3. Adverts are vacancy notices and will include at least one apprenticeship vacancy with an employer (one advert could potentially include a large number of individual vacancies).
  4. A vacancy is a unique opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship with an employer and the number of vacancies provides a count of apprenticeship vacancies published on FAA in a particular period.
  5. The number of vacancies does not provide a true measure of vacancies for apprenticeships because many are not advertised through the Find An Apprenticeship website, therefore the measure represents a subset of the total number available across the marketplace as a whole.
  6. The number of adverts does not provide a true measure of adverts for apprenticeships because many are not advertised through the Find An Apprenticeship website, therefore the measure represents a subset of the total number available across the marketplace as a whole.
  7. There are around 100 adverts since August 2018, for which the number of vacancies in each are currently unavailable. These vacancies therefore are not counted within the vacancy volumes shown here, however, the corresponding adverts are counted in the advert totals.
  8. Level is as declared by the user placing the advert and does not necessarily align with the definition of level we publish elsewhere. Higher apprenticeships here include those declared as 'Higher' and 'Degree' in the advert. Degree apprenticeships here are those higher apprenticeships at level 6 or 7 apprenticeships declared as "Degree". Elsewhere we define a degree apprenticeships as a level 6 or 7 apprenticeship with a mandatory degree component that is required for successful achievement of the apprenticeship.
