Footnotes

  1. Staff turnover rates are the number of paid childcare staff who left employment during the period expressed as a percentage of the total number of paid childcare staff employed at the start of the period.
  2. These turnover rates are not directly comparable with those for previous years.  In the 2024 Survey, for instance, providers were told to exclude staff that do not work directly with children, such as administrators, and staff going on extended leave, such as maternity leave, from the number of staff leaving them in the last 12 months.  This will have slightly reduced estimates of turnover rates.
