- Data is collected for funded children attending the following settings within the Early Years census: Private or Voluntary providers including Day Nursery, Playgroup or Pre-school, Family/Combined/Integrated Centre, Sure Start Children's Centre - Main Centre Site, Sure Start Children's Centre - Linked Provider, Early Years Childcare Provider, Sure Start Children's Centre, and Other Private and Voluntary providers, Also Registered Independent School, Local Authority Day Nursery, Other, State-funded Governor Run and Childminders.
- Count of children aged 3 or 4 at 31 December in the previous calendar year.
- Before using this table please check the methodology section for important information such as definitions, limitations and caveats about the data that may not be included in these footnotes.
- Count of children aged 2 at 31 December in the previous calendar year.
- Data is collected for funded children attending the following settings within the School census: Maintained Nursery schools, State Funded Primary including primary converter academies, primary sponsor-led academies and primary free schools; State Funded Secondary including maintained secondary schools, secondary converter academies, secondary sponsor-led academies, secondary free schools and city technology colleges and Special schools which includes General hospital schools.
- The number of providers shown relates to the count of children benefiting. If children split their funded early entitlement across more than one private, voluntary or independent provider, they are only counted once at the provider where they spend the majority of their time.
