Footnotes

1. Includes temporary staff but excludes volunteer staff and apprentices. Staff that do not work directly with children e.g. administrative staff are excluded.
2. Due to the small number of males reported on the survey as working in maintained nursery schools and voluntary group-based providers, figures for these provider types are not shown in the tables.  Instead, figures for "all school-based providers" and for "all group-based providers" are grouped together
