  1. Aim enrolments are a count of enrolments at aim level (including component aims) for each stated academic period. Learners will be counted for each aim they are studying and so can be counted more than once.
  2. Aim achievements are a count of aims achieved (including component aims) for each stated academic period. Learners will be counted for each aim they achieve and so can be counted more than once.
  3. Total achievements are the count of learners that achieved at any point during the stated academic period. Learners achieving more than one course will appear only once in the grand total.
  4. Age is based on age as at 31 August of the academic year.
  5. Learner characteristics (such as sex, learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities and ethnicity) are based upon self-declaration by the learner.
  6. Ethnicity categories have been aligned with the ethnicities recorded in the 2011 UK Census.
  7. Geography is based upon the home postcode of the learner. Where the postcode is outside of England or not known it is included in the 'Outside of England and unknown' category.
  8. Geographies are taken from the National Statistics Postcode Lookup.
  9. Not Applicable/Not Known' levels includes aims where a qualification either has no level or may be taken at several levels.
  10. Education and Training aims include component aims for Traineeships.
