Footnotes

  1. Excludes volunteer staff and apprentices. Staff that do not work directly with children, such as administrative staff, are also excluded.
  2. In the 2024 Survey, changes were made to the way that information about staff salaries were collected and validated.  This has significantly reduced the proportion of paid staff estimated to be paid below the National Living Wage and figures in this table cannot be compared with earlier years.  See "further details" for more information.
  3. Refers to the percentage of "eligible" staff i.e. those aged 21 or above paid below the National Living Wage (£11.44 per hour from 1 April 2024)
